President and CEO
Mark Gardner was named President and CEO of Sappi Fine Paper North America in 2007 and is responsible for leading all Sappi operations in the region. That same year, he was also appointed to the Board of SFPNA. He joined Sappi
in 1981 and his experience includes serving as the Vice President of Manufacturing and Vice President of Supply Chain. Mark has also worked in a variety of production management roles, including Production Manager at the Westbrook Mill
, Paper Mill Manager at the Somerset Mill
, Managing Director at the Muskegon Mill and Director of Engineering and Manufacturing Technology at the regional head office in Boston. He has a B.S. in Industrial Technology from the University of Southern Maine. In September 2012, he was appointed to the Board of Trustees for the University of Maine System.
Vice President Fiber Resources and Corporate Development
Anne Ayer was named Vice President Fiber Resources and Corporate Development in 2015 subsequent to her appointment as Corporate Development and Chief Information Officer in 2009. In her new role, Anne assumes responsibility for the purchase and sale of specialized cellulose and kraft pulp for North America, in addition to retaining her Corporate Development responsibilities. Anne joined Sappi in 1996 from the Monitor Company, a strategic consulting firm. She has an M.B.A from Stanford University and a B.A. in Psychology from Harvard.
Vice President Central and Wood Procurement
John Donahue became the Vice President Central and Wood Procurement in 2015 and is responsible for the North America region's purchasing and wood initiatives. John has over 29 years of manufacturing experience in the paper industry and has spent most of his career at Sappi, joining in 1982. John has worked in technical, product quality and manufacturing operations at Sappi and his previous roles include serving as the Managing Director of Operations at the Somerset and Westbrook Mills. He has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a fifth year Pulp & Paper certificate from the University of Maine.
Vice President, Sales and Business Development
Bob Forsberg became the Vice President of Sales in October 2005 and is responsible for the development and execution of the North American sheet and web paper sales strategy. He began his career as a Sales Representative with S.D. Warren in 1985 and has served in a variety of positions in Sales and Marketing, including Regional Sales Manager, Atlanta, Category Director, Utility Brands and Catalog Segment and most recently, Regional Sales Manager, Mid-Atlantic. He has a B.A. in Economics and Art History from Bowdoin College.
Vice President, Coated and Packaging Business
Deece Hannigan was named Vice President, Coated and Packaging Business with responsibility for Supply Chain including Logistics and Coated Inside Sales in 2015. Deece's strong record of execution, proven leadership and deep knowledge of the business of the Coated and Packing businesses will be well positioned to move through the current market conditions. Deece began his career with S.D. Warren as a salesperson in 1988. He has since served in a variety of leadership positions in Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing. Most recently, he was the Vice President of Fiber Resources. Deece is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
In addition to her current responsibilities as Chief Financial Officer where she is responsible for the entire finance operation of the North American division, Annette assumes accountability for the region's Information Technology organization. With her new IT responsibilities, Annette will also work closely with the global Information Technology team. Prior to these roles, she served as Director of Finance. Annette joined Sappi in 1996, after spending 10 years with Packaging Corporation of America, a division of Tenneco and Ply Gem Industries, where she worked in various accounting and finance positions. She has an M.B.A. from Loyola University of Chicago and a B.S. in Accounting from Northern Illinois University.
Vice President, Human Resources and General Counsel
Sarah Manchester was named Vice President Human Resources and General Counsel of Sappi Fine Paper North America in December 2006. She is responsible for all human resources initiatives, including labor relations and organizational development, and all strategic and tactical legal initiatives, including compliance, major business transactions and management of intellectual property and government affairs. Since joining Sappi in 1997, Sarah has held a variety of roles, including Assistant General Counsel and Vice President and General Counsel. Prior to her time at Sappi, Sarah was an associate at the global law firm, Ropes & Gray. She has a B.A. in History from Dartmouth College and a J.D. from Cornell Law School.
Chief Business Sustainability Officer
Jennifer Miller was named Chief Business Sustainability Officer in 2015 and is responsible for identifying growth opportunities through expansions into current and adjacent businesses. Jennifer will also maintain her sustainability leadership responsibilities and continue her responsibilities on the Paper Check-Off Board. Jennifer joined Sappi in 1996 as Vice President and General Counsel and since that time, has held several leadership positions, most recently as Executive Vice President of Strategic Marketing and Communications. Jennifer has been a member of Sappi North America's Board of Directors since 1999. Before joining Sappi, she served as Vice President of Rates and General Counsel for Boston Gas. She has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Washington and a J.D. from Cornell Law School.
Vice President & General Manager, Specialties Business
Tom Collins was named Vice President of the Specialties Business in 2013 and is responsible for leading the development and successful execution of profitable growth strategies in Sappi's global release paper business. He manages the sales, marketing, R&D and manufacturing organizations within the release business. Tom joined Sappi in 1991 after fifteen years in the Paper, Foods and Industrial Chemicals divisions of Procter & Gamble. Tom has held various positions in manufacturing, marketing and R&D, and served as Sappi's first Managing Director of the Cloquet Mill following acquisition from Potlatch in 2002. Tom has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maine and a M.S in Industrial Administration from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University.
Vice President, Manufacturing
Mike Haws, formerly Managing Director, Somerset has accepted the role of Vice President, Manufacturing with responsibility for Somerset, Cloquet, Allentown, Safety, Research and Development and Customer Care. Mike, who has been leading the Manufacturing organization in an interim capacity since June, permanently joined the Lead Team in 2015.
