Sappi's global commitment to sustainability is built upon a holistic approach that extends through the entire lifecycle of a product - from material acquisition through manufacturing, distribution, end use and disposal. By taking a more comprehensive viewpoint - from cradle to grave - we can elevate our own standards while driving improvements beyond our mill gates.

Affiliations
Sappi Fine Paper North America has joined efforts with leading organizations in the print media supply chain to establish a U.S. division of Two Sides - a nonprofit organization established to promote the responsible production and use of print and paper as a practical and sustainable communications medium.
Sappi is also a member of the American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA). This association has established the most extensive set of quantifiable sustainability goals for a major U.S. manufacturing industry, with a commitment to transparently report progress towards achieving those goals. This initiative called "Better Practices, Better Planet 2020: Continuing AF&PA's Commitment to Sustainability" is the next phase in the forest products industry's efforts to build on our legacy as a leader in sustainability - from raw materials and product manufacturing to the health and safety for our workforce and economic contributions to our communities.
